Keep Your Enzymes Well-Tempered with Metrohm's Water Bath Rack
The water bath sample rack for Metrohm Sample Processors is suitable for numerous new applications. Heating or cooling your samples is no problem with the new water bath rack, which covers the temperature range between -10'C and +50'C. The use of a separate heating or cooling system means that the constant-temperature medium and the bath filling are completely separated. This has two decisive advantages: The bath cannot overflow as liquid does not need to be added or removed, and you are completely free in the choice of your heating or cooling medium. As this medium is contained in a separate, closed circulation system it cannot come into contact with the samples and therefore cannot influence them in any way. The heating and cooling spirals ensure efficient and uniform thermostatting of the water bath.
The bath inserts can be removed and exchanged for the other rack available. No matter whether you use 11 mL test tubes or beakers with a capacity of 120, or even 250 mL, each sample is perfectly tempered. A sophisticated holding system keeps the test tubes and beakers from floating.
1. Wide temperature range :-10'C to 50'C
2. Available for 11, 75, 120, 150, and 250 mL beakers
3. Separate fluids for bath and circulator what eliminates bath overflow
4. Full functionality of the Robotic Sample Processors XL
5. Complete analysis and result management with tiamo

Humidity and Temperature Sensor with USB Port
Apart from simple measurement, often the temperature or humidity process is to be recorded, for example in quality assurance activities or support system in laboratory experiments and weather measurements. Normally, further evaluation and processing of measurement data takes place as per the software so that there is a facility to capture data with the help of PCs.
The innovative USB-based measuring system in combination with the PC-Software 'PCLOG' by Hygrosens Instruments (Germany) is an ideal, efficient measuring and recording system for temperature and climate data. With the integrated USB-port and "Plug&Play" concept, the application becomes very simple : After connection to a free USB-Port and installation of software, the system is ready for use. The graphical representation and recording of measurements becomes convenient with the use of a PC.
The temperature measuring system works on a multi channel basis and supports upto 64 temperature sensors on a PC. The sensors are all driven parallel on a 3 core line (bus system) and differentiated through individual ID. A wide variety of different temperature sensors are available including models which are also water proof or pressure resistant.
The measuring system for combined humidity and temperature measurement works with a capacitive polymer sensor and offers outstanding accuracy and long term stability. A part form actual measurement, the software calculates twelve more climate data viz. dew point, wet bulb temperature, absolute humidity, Enthalpy and vapour pressure.
A special feature is the provision of calibrating the device. With the help of humidity reference cells which are available as accessories, the user can himself check the accuracy or calibrate the humidity measuring element. The external sensing element is plug-in type and interchangeable. Besides the standard sensor with 2 % measuring accuracy, special sensors are also available for a wide variety of special applications, for example precision grade humidity sensor, pressure resistant dew point sensor for pneumatics, high temperature sensors or stationery mounted sensors.
For special applications and also customised applications, special sensors can be produced to practically cover all application areas.

New Heat Stress Monitor Featuring Waterless Wet Bulb Calculation
Quest Technologies (USA) is pleased to announce the addition of the QUESTemp 44 and 46 to our portable heat stress instrumentation series. These Instruments are used to evaluate indoor and outdoor environmental conditions for the potential to cause heat stress or heat-related injuries. The QUESTemp 44 and 46 incorporate a waterless Wet bulb sensor, which offers traditional heat stress monitoring without the aggravation of wet bulb maintenance.
The waterless Wet bulb calculation was created in conjunction with Dr. Thomas Bernard, Professor in the college of public health at the University Of South Florida. Using this method, an algorithm utilizes temperature and humidity readings to calculate the Wet Bulb equivalent temperature and to compute the WBGT. Wet Bulb globe temperature (WBGT) is a recognized method to monitor environmental conditions related to heat stress. The waterless Wet bulb calculation ensures accurate WBGT readings without the maintenance of adding water to the bulb sensor.
The QUESTemp 44 and 46 heat stress monitors provide simplified heat stress management with high quality product features. Both models measure/calculate the dry bulb, wet bulb and globe temperatures along with WBGT indoors, WBGT outdoors, relative humidity and heat index/humidex. A real time clock provides accurate reporting with time stamping. On board data logging along with QuestSuite Professional II Software allows for advanced analysis of data with charting, graphing and reporting options.
In addition, the QUESTemp 46 includes the ability to measure stay times in order to manage work/rest regimens. Guidance is based on the screening criteria for heat stress as defined in the ACHIH TLV Handbook, US, Navy PHEL Charts, US Marine Flag system and EPRI Action Limits. The QUESTemp 46 also features an optional detachable air probe.

Safety Officers Measurement Kits
Cirrus Research (UK) is offering a wide range of versatile and cost effective Safety Officers Measurement Kits. Sophisticated and adaptable, yet easy to operate, Cirrus Safety Officers Measurement Kits are designed to be used by in house health and safety officers to measure and record occupational (inside) and environmental (outside) noise. They are intended to help organisations meet their legal obligations with regard to noise safety, without the need to employ external consultants.
Each kit contains a sound level meter and there Cirrus 'doseBadge' personal noise dosemeters-small devices worn by individual members of staff to measure the noise they are exposed to during a typical working day. What distinguishes the five separate kits in the range is the specification of the sound level meter selected. As James Tingay, Cirrus Research explains...
"Which sound level monitor (and therefore which kit) customers need will depend on two things : what they want to record, be it noise in the workplace or noise levels at the perimeter fence, and how much data they need to store. We will help them to choose the right kit for their business and demonstrate how it can help them to meet tge requirements of the 2005 Control of Noise at work regulations."

Noise Kit Simplifies Assessment
Because some workers are constantly on the move, some noise exposure assessments are more accurate if taken with a personally worn, noise dosimeter. Other staff members 'stay put' for the whole shift and in this case, a hand-held sound level meter is more appropriate. Since, most organisations have workers doing both types of job profile, Casella CEL (UK) has developed an Occupational Health and Safety Noise Kit with both a sound level meter and noise dosimeter.
The CEL-620 sound level meter and the innovative CEL-350 dBadge noise dosimeter are perfect for health and safety professionals wishing to make risk asessements. The CEL-620 is the world's smallest, colour screen octave band analyser with display that gives results on a clear colour-coded display; it is probably one of easiest to use too! Simplicity of use was a key design objective for this instrument and all measurements from simple 'point and shoot' readings to full industrial hygiene assessment can be performed without the need for special training. The CEL-620 can measure up to 140 dB without adjusting its range and measures all occupational noise parameters simultaneously without the need to manually reset.
Dosimeters have to be small, rugged and reliable and the CEL-350 dBadge is all there. It weighs in at a mere 68 grams and needing no microphone cable, this unobtrusive device can be simply worn and forgotten. It measures all occupational noise parameters, as well as the time history of an individual's noise exposure, throughout the day. The dBadge uses integral NiMH batteries which give 32 hours of continous operation from a 90 minutes charge and has an integral graphic display for status information and ongoing interrogation of noise exposure results. "These product present the next generation of workplace noise monitors," Said Tim Turney, Product Manager for Casella CEL. " They are all-digital, DSP based and different from anything else on the market. Both are incredibly simple to use even with the real-time octave band analyser, which is a must for the selection of appropriate hearing protection.'
