Filter Entrapment System for Legionella Analysis

A new study has shown the Celltrap unit from Harvey Coleman Ltd (UK) to be greatly effective in entrapping Legionella organism in the standard microbiological method therefore increasing the optimisation of the test and removing false negatives.
It is widely acknowledge that Legionnaires disease is a potentially life-threatening pneumonia caused by inhaling airborne Legionella pneumophila bacterium and other related bacteria. Assessment of water quality plays an important part in demonstrating the due diligence and the confirmation of the efficacy of control measures which must be put in place to protect employees and the general public.
The unique Celltrap micro filtration units overcome all the drawbacks of flatbed processes, collecting bio-materials faster and in greater concentrations. The patented Celltrap unit comprises of 0.2 micron hollow fibre membranes which filter liquids and entraps micro-organisms, which can then be eluted to enable specific detection. There is virtually no limit to the volume of liquid requiring filtration, providing more concentrated samples in a shorter period of time.
The design of the Celltrap system enables accurate samples to be taken faster then is possible using traditional methods which can result in ATP bioluminescence detection in less than five minutes . The CellTrap devices are completely self contained therefore eliminating the danger of contamination from external sources.
